Mechanical Engineer

ODIM Brooke Ocean Ltd., a leading manufacturer of advanced marine and oceanographic hardware, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Required experience and knowledge:
  • Must be a professional engineer with at least 5 years experience and be capable of supervising technologists and technicians
  • Should be capable of completing structural analysis using the latest Finite Element Analysis tools
  • Experience with finite element analysis and project management would also be an asset
  • Must have strong organizational, written, and communication skills and pay close attention to detail
  • A marine or ocean technology background would be a definite asset
Working Conditions:
  • Employee must adhere to all applicable ODIM Brooke Ocean policies and procedures
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required

You must be a professional engineer (or eligible for registration with APENS) and have some related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical engineering.

CAD Drafting Specialist

ODIM Brooke Ocean Ltd., a leading manufacturer of advanced marine and oceanographic hardware, is looking for an experienced CAD Drafting Specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparing accurate engineering CAD drawings and schematic diagrams and as appropriate, that meets company and accepted industry standards
  • Assisting Engineers and Technologists in determining technical feasibility of proposed designs
  • Providing accurate estimates of level of effort and schedule required for completion of the various tasks and responsibilities of the job
  • Identifying existing or potential assembly, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance problems and inefficiencies and for making suggestions for improvement
  • Conducting and accurately recording measurements of compliance and system performance associated with factory acceptance tests, field trials, demonstrations and commissioning
Required experience and knowledge:
  • Must have 2 years experience using Inventor and Pro/Engineer and post-secondary training in drafting
  • Experience with machinery and / or marine equipment would be an asset
  • Must have a strong 2D and 3D CAD / Drafting background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technologically competent in engineering design and functional design
  • Excellent teamwork skills
Working Conditions:

Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Specialist

ODIM Brooke Ocean Ltd., a leading manufacturer of advanced marine and oceanographic hardware, is looking for an experienced Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Specialist to join our team. The position would be a 12 - 18 month contract position.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide ILS support for naval projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend design and logistics reviews with the customer
  • Perform availability, maintainability, and reliability analysis
  • Perform reliability-centered maintenance analysis, failure modes effects analysis
  • Develop maintenance plans and other logistics related documentation, including the writing of technical manuals
  • Perform sparing and support and test equipment analysis
  • Work with customer drive Naval Logistics Management and Information Systems requirements (includes Material Management Codification Data)
  • Analysis of ILS requirements
Required experience and knowledge:
  • Engineering degree or technologist diploma
  • Experience with military standard reliability and maintainability analysis, naval logistics, configuration management and provisioning
  • Experience with electrical and hydraulic systems considered an asset, as would certification from an accredited organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to supervise and direct others
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work days, as well as evenings and weekends from time to time
  • Must be willing to travel to attend design reviews and meetings with the customer

Mechanical Assembler

ODIM Brooke Ocean Ltd., a leading manufacturer of advanced marine and oceanographic hardware, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Assembler to join our team. The role of the Mechanical Assembler is to perform safe and effective assembly of various marine electrical mechanical products to support and enhance the work of the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Performing safe, efficient and high quality "fabrication, assembly and installation" activities that follow company work instructions, meet industry standards for workmanship, and pass all tests
  • Accurately documenting incoming components against purchase orders and verifying / testing that they perform as required for the intended use
  • Safely and efficiently preparing products for shipping, including building shipping crates where required
  • Work directly with suppliers to ensure equipment or parts are ordered and received as specified
Duties:
  • Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finish products using hand and power tools
  • Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly and connect cables, tubes and wires
  • Fasten parts together using bolting and riveting equipment or other fastening and joining techniques
  • Inspectors in this unit group perform some or all of the following duties:
- Check subassemblies and inspect finished products
for proper quality
- Check mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for
alignment and proper functioning
- Test and check electrical and hydraulic assemblies
for proper connections
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs

  • May sort, process and verify applications, receipts, expenditures, forms and other documents.
Required experience and knowledge:
  • Previous related work experience in mechanical assembly
  • Reasonable communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical processes and procedures
  • Cognitive of health and safety
