BROOKE OCEAN TECHNOLOGY SIGNS RESEARCH AGREEMENT

Typical SeaHorse mooringBrooke Ocean Technology Ltd., a Halifax, Canada-based manufacturer of advanced data collection platforms and shipboard handling systems, notes it has recently signed a research agreement with Sable Offshore Energy Inc. to develop an enhanced version of the former's SeaHorse™ profiling buoy for use as an environmental monitoring system.

SeaHorse™ is a self-contained profiling system that moves up and down a mooring wire, powered by the energy of surface waves.

SeaHorse ProfilerThe use of wave energy allows long term deployments without the need for large amounts of battery power. Because SeaHorse™ can profile vertically through the water column on a regular basis, it eliminates the requirement for multiple sensors on the mooring.

SeaHorse being deployed by members of DFO and BOTOne of the tasks to be completed under this project is to identify and integrate the additional sensors required for the offshore oil and gas industry.

SeaHorse™ was co-developed by Fisheries & Oceans Canada (Bedford Institute of Oceanography) and BOT and is now manufactured by BOT under license.
