![]() BOT PRESS RELEASE: MAY 25, 2000BROOKE OCEAN TECHNOLOGY SIGNS RESEARCH AGREEMENT ![]() Brooke Ocean Technology Ltd., a Halifax, Canada-based manufacturer of advanced data collection platforms and shipboard handling systems, notes it has recently signed a research agreement with Sable Offshore Energy Inc. to develop an enhanced version of the former's SeaHorse™ profiling buoy for use as an environmental monitoring system.SeaHorse™ is a self-contained profiling system that moves up and down a mooring wire, powered by the energy of surface waves. The use of wave energy allows long term deployments without the need for large amounts of battery power. Because SeaHorse™ can profile vertically through the water column on a regular basis, it eliminates the requirement for multiple sensors on the mooring.![]() SeaHorse™ was co-developed by Fisheries & Oceans Canada (Bedford Institute of Oceanography) and BOT and is now manufactured by BOT under license.
