(Dartmouth, Nova Scotia - October 7, 2007): ODIM Brooke Ocean is pleased to announce an order for four of its Moving Vessel Profiler (ODIM MVP200) systems, each equipped with a Single-Sensor (CTD) Free Fall Fish and the ODIM Free Fall Cone Penetrometer (FFCPT). The order also includes a grab sampler add-on that is compatible with the Moving Vessel Profiler’s control and data collection system.

The ODIM MVP200 is one of a family of MVP products that uses a computer-controlled smart winch and deployment system that allows an instrumented Free Fall Fish to be deployed while a survey vessel is underway. The system is automated and can be controlled by computer without the requirement for personnel on deck. The ODIM MVP200, for example, will allow the collection of water column information (e.g. SV&P, CTD) to depths of 200m while the vessel is traveling at 12 knots and as deep as 600m while on station.

ODIM MVP technology optimizes survey data acquisition and post processing time as well as increasing sounding accuracy by providing near real time water column acoustic propagation parameters.

The ODIM Free Fall Cone Penetrometer (FFCPT) is a robust device designed to free fall through the water column and impact the seabed. The FFCPT adds value to the operations in that it is fully integrated with the MVP allowing “in situ” sediment observations while the vessel is underway.
