Sonar Research Projector (SRP) System
ODIM Brooke Ocean have developed a towbody and handling system for a towed sonar research projector. This system was developed in conjunction with Sparton of Canada Acoustics Division (since purchased by Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems) and was delivered to the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organization (DSTO).The towbody is a floodable, stable, streamlined body and houses Sparton-supplied acoustic projectors, transformers, sensors and hydrophones.
The handling/towing system consists of a knuckle-boom crane, winch, hydraulic power unit, towing/capture mechanism, portable control console, power distribution system and an air-conditioned laboratory.
The system is mounted on a 20ft ISO container for rapid mobilization and ease of transport.This system is capable of operation in up to Sea State 4 and 6 knot tow speeds.
