- Bluefin Robotics AUV Launch and Recovery System
The Thales LARS is designed to launch and recover the Bluefin Robotics AUV.
The crane-based system is mounted on an ISO base, allowing installation on a variety of vessels of opportunity.
It folds up within the ISO base footprint allowing for ease of shipping. The system consists of a folding Hiab 200 marine crane, capture mechanism, constant tension winch, integral hydraulic power unit, and towing boom.
Remote line attachment methods are employed, eliminating the requirement for personnel in or on the water. The vehicle is stabilized with a towline while being lifted with the hoisting cable. The lifting and tow hooks on the vehicle automatic deploy and retract, triggered by hydrostatic pressure. The system is designed for operations in up to sea state 5 conditions.
This system has been delivered to Thales Geosolutions and the system is currently in use.
