Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) Payloads

USV Equipped With UUV Handling SystemODIM BROOKE OCEAN can provide a variety of payloads and instrument handling systems for Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) applications.

ODIM BROOKE OCEAN leverages world-class expertise with automated cable handling and launch and recovery systems to develop turnkey payloads for unmanned surface vehicles.

Potential payloads for USV handling systems include:

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

Multi-function Systems A multi-functional system can be supplied that is capable of handling a variety of payloads with some minor reconfiguration for each.

“Base” components designed to stay on the USV can be permanently or semi-permanently installed, such as:
  • Lightweight Slip Ring Winch
  • Overboarding Mechanism
  • Control Systems
  • Hydraulic Power Supply
Modular add-on configuration “kits”, designed for specific assets, can be interchanged or stowed.

TOTEM Handling System Installed on RHIB We have experience installing payloads on small craft similar to USVs. Shown here is a custom-designed towed body handling system installed on a RHIB. The system consisted of a lightweight, slip ring-equipped aluminum winch and a small A-frame.




ODIM Spectrum Lightweight Winch Technology






ODIM Spectrum, an affiliate of ODIM Brooke Ocean, supply lightweight winch and handling technology for sensors deployed from helicopters. This technology is ideally suited for USVs, where installations can be configured to customer requirements.

Also, a major investment has been made by ODIM Brooke OceanMVP User Interface in the development of the Moving Vessel Profiler™, an automated water column profiling system that incorporates a winch and overboarding boom. The MVP control system can be readily adapted for operating instruments such as towed sonars, dipping sonars and towed arrays from USVs.
